UT basketball recruit Josh Lemons of Cincinnati La Salle was named Division I first team All-Ohio on Monday. This honor alone doesn't say much about his projected development at the next level, but it's nonetheless encouraging. The 5-11 guard averaged 18 points and led his team to a No. 2 ranking before bowing out in the district semifinal. La Salle won the state title last year.
Lemons and post graduate power forward Aubrey Williams are expected to sign with UT next month, joining a class that began with the early signing of 6-9 Illinois center Nathan Boothe.
Several other juniors who earned All-Ohio honors are on UT's radar.
-Toledo Whitmer's Nigel Hayes, D-I second team. 6-7 junior. 13.8 ppg. His team will play in the state semifinals this weekend.
-Napoleon's Jordan Lauf, D-II second team. 6-5 junior. 21.9 ppg.
-Bowling Green's Vitto Brown, D-II honorable mention.
Also, when the D-IV list is revealed today, we'll likely see Vanlue's Zach Garber. UT likes him. Ditto for Bedford's (Mich.) Jackson Lamb.

I am afraid that Coach Collup blew the game to Syracuse the same way that Toledo beat Syracuse last year. A coach must foul with a three point lead and less than 5 seconds to go. Also if she did not want to foul, Courtney and other tall players should have been guarding the 3 point line. Coach has done a great job, but, this one is on her.

In attending the second metting I was delighted to see a handfull of people at this meeting. What I mean by handfull is at the first meeting it was standing room only. This second meeting it was just about 50 plus people. I have seen this so many times that everyone gets up in arms but does nothing to help and or correct the problem. If the city want to grow it has to be the people of the town to make the changes not just the business owners and or the city but the people who live in the town. With having little to no extra money you would think people would purchase locally and save the cost of gas and time. ( As a kid I can remember my dad driving to 3-4 gas stations to save 4 cent a gallong on gas. After growing up and looking back I see that my dad was paying far more for gas then he ever saved.) This has to be a consideration when people are shopping. With gas at $4.00 or more a gallong what is the cost of that steak, plumbing fitting, the list could go on and on. What are you saving by driving 10-15 extra miles for an items that cost $1.79 in Toledo but you can get the same items in Winlock, Chehalis for $1.59. With gas you now are paying 40-70% more for that same item. Please do not get me wrong we all have the same ideas to save a buck but if you look at this with the cost of gas and your time what are you saving by shopping out of town? If we are to make Toledo grow and have businesses we need to look within our town first and shop locally. Like we say help us stay open buy locally. Thanks for reading.
