Nothing like a little scanner chatter reporting a person shot to break up an afternoon.
That's what happened today, a little after 2 p.m. The "code 3" tones sounded, a dispatcher reported that a caller said a single gunshot was heard at Oakwood and Lawrence avenues, just outside Beko's Market. The next report was that a person had been shot.
I informed the photo desk, grabbed my portable radio, notebook, purse and headed out the door for the central city neighborhood.
Lori King, camera in hand, was already on scene when I got there, snapping photos and gathering some preliminary information.
Turns out nobody was shot, but officers found a gun and a loaded magazine was found in a dead shrub. One man was being "detained."
Nothing to write home about, but since we were there and Lori got some pictures, I figured I might as well share. Here are a couple of her shots from the afternoon adventure.
