Officials allege that, while Tyreese Morris, 22, was an inmate at the Lucas County jail, he gave Deputy Matthew Peacock a "bear hug" in an attempt to harm the deputy.
Morris, of 829 Walnut, was arraigned on one count of assault Monday in Toledo Municipal Court, ordered to be held in the jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
An arrest warrant states that the hug occurred at the jail on Nov. 24. It's unclear why Morris might have hugged the deputy.
The warrant states that the suspect refused to let go of Deputy Peacock, who apparently suffered injuries to an elbow and knee.
The suspect is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 21.
