Farmers markets are synonymous with summer. I get the urge to go to a market when I'm plotting to cook something. I don't cook as often as I would like to, but when I do, I really like to get the best ingredients. For me, the best ingredients are usually organic.
Locally, there is one great option. Joyce's Farm Market & Greenhouse is about 2 or so miles outside of Sylvania. Just drive through downtown, toward Erie Street and keep driving until you start to see corn fields. You'll know you're in the right place because there's a big cart of corn out front and of course, ample signage.
Joyce's stocks a great variety of fruits and vegetables. The associates who were working the counter today said most of their produce is from local farmers and they try to stock organic when they can. They also offer different varieties of local honey, Italian garlic and various breads.
I got lost on the way back (which is about nearly impossible), but in case anyone else wants to see the market and plug the address into GPS, it is: 6610 Memorial Highway, Ottawa Lake, Michigan. Enjoy! (For fall, Joyce's will have apples and cider...yum!)
