The Big House had a visitor today - actor/former rapper Mark Wahlberg, who made a bet with Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner that a kicker could make three 50-yard field goals. You might remember Wahlberg from a little movie about a well-endowed guy ... or from his 1991 hit "Good Vibrations" ... or from a great Saturday Night Live sketch Andy Samberg did about five years ago.
But from today, here's video of Wahlberg taking reps at Michigan Stadium, via Gardner: http://instagram.com/p/bTsUyBzVJc/
My question - where would Devin Gardner get that $500?
Speaking of betting, because a little conjecture never hurt ...
First, Las Vegas-based Cantor Gaming released its win totals for 30 college football (FBS) teams on Tuesday, and set the bar at about the same place Michigan ended last season - the over/under is at 8.5 for the Wolverines in 2013.
5Dimes.com - an offshore, online sportsbook - put the over/under for the Wolverines at 9.5.
With strictly Vegas in mind (and it's on my mind a lot), I'll take the over and pick Michigan's 2013 wins: Central Michigan, Connecticut, Akron, Minnesota, Penn State, Indiana, Nebraska, Northwestern and Iowa.
Phil Steele also released his 2013 bowl projections and placed Michigan in the Gator Bowl on Jan. 1, 2014 against Ole Miss in Jacksonville, Fla. - Michigan being the fifth seed from the Big Ten and Ole Miss the sixth seed from the SEC.
And who does Steele pick to play in the 2014 BCS title game? Alabama ... and Ohio State.
