ANN ARBOR - Craig Roh pulled his hair back into a ponytail, then pulled the trigger. No guns were involved. Instead, the weapon of choice was a pair of scissors.
Tuesday, Michigan's senior defensive end showed up at Schembechler Hall with shorn hair.
"I just wanted to get rid of all distractions, and focus on a Big Ten championship," Roh said. "So the flow had to go."
"It's funny. I had a dream that I cut my hair off, then J.T. [Floyd] cut his hair," Roh said. "I basically was getting fed up with my hair. Friday morning I texted my dad, 'should I cut my hair?' "
With his team entering the throes of its Big Ten schedule, Roh had to re-evaluate some of his priorities. And his medicine cabinet - stocked with hair-care products.
"It was too much to deal with," Roh said. "It took too much of my time. Jake (Ryan), his flow lays down perfectly all the time, but curlier hair, I'd wake up with a huge fro and would have to put it down and put product in my hair. It was like, this is taking too much of my time!"
As someone with unruly hair, I understand.
