Pop culture, it seems, assists in fanning the flames of the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry.
"Glee" lost me last season, and I'm not up on my terminology or the latest plotline of the hit Fox TV series that's set in Lima, which chronicles a cast of singing high schoolers and the drama of their teenage lives.
But in scrolling through my Twitter feed during last night's back-to-back episodes, I learned that Michigan recruit Shane Morris, a quarterback from De La Salle Collegiate High School in Warren, Mich., who is set to join the Wolverines in 2013, is a Glee fan. Or at least Morris watched last night's back-to-back episodes.
Morris gave his 11,958 followers on Twitter a heads-up to the rivalry's mention, as captured by the Glee writers. (FWIW, Darren Criss, who plays "Blaine" is a Michigan graduate and one of Glee's writers, Michael Hitchcock, is from Defiance ... )
Morris' comment received more than 50 retweets last night, including my RT. The mention of the rivalry also garnered a few other comments on Twitter, here's a collection via Storify.
Anyone have a link to last night's episode with the mention of the storied rivalry? Email it my way - rlenzi@theblade.com
