Mel Kiper Jr. put up the Big Board today.
ESPN's NFL Draft analyst posted his first 2013 draft projections and Michigan offensive tackle Taylor Lewan is at No. 12 among the top 25 prospects for next year's draft. At No. 1 - USC quarterback Matt Barkley
The Big Board is available via ESPN Insider (translation: subscriber-only), but here's the Big Board skinny on Lewan:
Will get the Jake Long comparisons all year in Ann Arbor. Elite length and athleticism for the position, profiles as a left tackle. Long arms, able to move with and swat away speed rushers. Underrated power as a run-blocker given his frame.
Lewan's noted for his size and mobility, but he's also noted among scribes as being one of the Wolverines' more colorful personalities. One example - during the spring, the 6-foot-8, 302-pound Lewan rode around Ann Arbor on a tandem bicycle - teammate Jake Ryan captured the moment, then sent it out via Twitter.
(um, bike helmets?)
Not joining Lewan on the first Big Board - Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson. While one of the country's more dynamic players, who thrived in an offense that emphasized the run, Kiper doesn't project Robinson as a quarterback. Instead, Robinson is projected as the No. 5 senior wide receiver available for the 2013 draft.
