HOMETOWN/HIGH SCHOOL: Findlay
BY THE NUMBERS: As a senior he played on both sides of the ball while also handling the punting. He averaged 36.7 yards per punt as a senior, 37.2 yards per punt as a junior. For his career he punted 87 times for 3,168 yards (36.4 yards per punt). He was an All-Ohio third team punter as a junior and was first team All-Three Rivers Athletic Conference as a punter last year.
WORTH NOTING: According to Findlay coach Mark Ritzler, Davidson will “walk on” this fall and will take over as the team’s punter (and get a scholarship) when current punter Brian Schmiedebusch graduates.
BONUS NUMBERS: Davidson played both offense and defense for the Trojans. As a defensive back his senior year, Davidson made 37 tackles and intercepted five passes (returning two for touchdowns). He was named to the All-Blade team as a defensive back, was first team All-TRAC and All-Ohio second team in Division I as a defensive back. … As a wide receiver on offense, Davidson caught 19 passes for 392 yards and six touchdowns. He caught 12 TD passes in his career and ranked fourth on Findlay’s all-time list in that category.
HIGH SCHOOL COACH MARK RITZLER SAID: "Joe is a long and tall, versatile athlete. You don’t see 6-foot-7 corners, but he had the hips, flexibility and speed to cover the opponent’s best receiver. In the red zone, he was a nightmare for opponents with the fade."
