BY THE NUMBERS: Led Farmington High School in tackles each of the past two seasons. As a senior he had 83 tackles, including 35 solo stops, and added one interception. He also blocked three kicks. As a wide receiver he caught eight passes for 171 yards and three touchdowns. He was voted All-Oakland Activities Association White Division first team as a defensive back… As a junior Gourdine finished with 95 tackles. … He was a pre-season Top 25 player in the state of Michigan according to the Detroit Free Press and was the No. 17 “Blue Chip” in the state of Michigan according to the Detroit News as well as All-Metro North second team by that newspaper.
WORTH NOTING: Gourdine originally committed to Cincinnati last summer but reopened his recruiting following a coaching change there. He also had offers from Iowa and Indiana.
