Senior running back John Pettigrew has been named
Mid-American Conference East Division offensive player of the week, the
league announced Monday.
Pettigrew, seeing action after an injury sidelined starter Anthon Samuel, ran for 93 yards and one touchdown on a career-high 29 carries in the Falcons' 21-7 over Buffalo at Crew Stadium Friday.
Pettigrew added three catches for 31 yards, finishing the game with 124 yards from scrimmage.
This is the seventh time this season the Falcons have been honored by the MAC. Pettigrew is the second BG player to win the award on offense, with Samuel earning the nod after the Ohio victory.
Bowling Green has had three players earn MAC East defensive player of the week honors a total of five teams. Senior Chris Jones has won the award three different times, while Ryland Ward claimed the honor after the win versus Akron and Dwayne Woods was honored after the UMass victory.
