MEN'S GOLF: The Falcons’ next competition will be at the UD Invitational in Dayton on Monday, Oct. 22.
WOMEN'S GOLF: The fall season is finished for the Falcons, whose next competition will be at the Spring Challenge Cup in March. BG finished second at “The Preview” held Oct. 15-16, trailing only Ball State while beating the rest of the field, which included six other MAC schools. The BG women were led by junior Bailey Arnold, who tied for third with rounds of 77-75 for a 152 score that was just two shots off medalist honors.
MEN'S SOCCER: The Falcons will play a Mid-American Conference contest at Northern Illinois on Saturday, Oct. 20, starting at 2 p.m. local time. Then Bowling Green will play at Michigan on Tuesday, Oct. 23 starting at 7 p.m. BG currently is 5-7-2 overall and 2-2-0 in Mid-American Conference play. The Falcons beat Buffalo in a league match Oct. 13 by a 3-0 score, then lost at IPFW 2-1 on Oct. 16. Junior Anthony Grant leads the Falcons with six goals, while sophomore Danny Baraldi has five goals and a team-best four assists. The pair is tied for team scoring honors with 14 points. Defensively, junior goalkeeper Michael Wiest has a 1.23 goals-against mark.
WOMENS SOCCER: The Falcons will play a pair of MAC games on the road this weekend, beginning with a contest at Ball State on Friday, Oct. 19 starting at 4 p.m. Then on Sunday, Oct. 21 BG will play at Miami in a 1 p.m. match. Bowling Green is 1-14-1 this season and 0-7-1 in league play and has lost six straight league matches after setbacks against Buffalo by a 2-1 score on Oct. 12 and against Akron by a 2-0 margin on Oct. 14. Sophomore Sidney Huth leads the team in scoring with three goals and seven points, while freshman Demy Whitaker has a team-best two assists. Freshman Jenna Underwood has a 1.71 goals-against average.
SWIMMING: The Falcons will compete next in a home dual match against Wayne State on Friday, Oct. 26. BG dominated the competition at the Tom Stubbs Relays on Oct. 12, winning eight of the 10 relay races and breaking three meet records in a competition that also included Toledo, Akron and Youngstown State. Senior Emily Bennet was named MAC swimmer of the week after taking part in five different relays that finished first: the 200 and 400 medley relays, the 3x100 backstroke and the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.
TENNIS: The next match for the Falcons will be at the WMU Super Challenge on Nov. 9-11. BG won the Rocket Invitational on Oct. 12-13 by posting a 21-5 record, including a 13-4 mark in singles, to claim eight of a possible nine points and defeat teams from Toledo, Detroit and Duquesne. Three Bowling Green players –- seniors Jade Johnson and Maddy Eccleston as well as junior Emily Reuland –- were undefeated in the tournament.
VOLLEYBALL: The Falcons will be at the Stroh Center for a pair of Mid-American Conference matches this weekend as they play Ball State on Friday, Oct. 19 starting at 7 p.m., then host Toledo on Saturday, Oct. 20 beginning at 7 p.m. BG now is 13-7 overall and remains unbeaten in MAC play at 8-0 after winning at Eastern Michigan and at Central Michigan last weekend. Individually, junior Ashley Dunn was named MAC East Division defensive player of the week for her performance last weekend, winning the award for the third straight week and giving the Falcons six East players of the week in the last five weeks.
