MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY: The men will run next at the Bradley Classic in Peoria, Ill., on Friday, Oct. 12. The Falcons finished ninth in the Division I bracket at the All-Ohio Championships on Sept. 29 with 256 points. Senior Josh Franek was the first BG runner across the finish line, posting a time of 26:27.11 to place 43rd in the 8-K race.
WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY: The next race for the Falcons will be at the Bradley Classic in Peoria, Ill., on Friday, Oct. 12. The Falcons did not compete in the team portion of the All-Ohio Championships Sept. 29. Freshman Emma Mirwaldt led the team in the open race, placing 10th.
MEN'S GOLF: The Falcons’ next competition will be at the UD Invitational in Dayton on Monday, Oct. 22. The team placed 14th at the Firestone Intercollegiate on Oct. 8-9. Bowling Green was led by seniors Wes Gates and Charlie Olson, who tied for 45th-place with a 36-hole total of 151.
WOMEN'S GOLF: The next match for the Falcons will be at “The Preview,” which will be held at Longaberger Golf Club Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 15-16. The BG women won their second consecutive tournament by taking top honors at the Butler Invitational on Oct. 8-9. The Falcons set a school record in the process with a 36-hole score of 600. Three Falcons finished in the top five, led by junior Bailey Arnold, sophomore Patricia Holt and sophomore Shelby Wilson all tied for fourth at 151.
MEN'S SOCCER: The Falcons will play a Mid-American Conference contest against Buffalo at Cochrane Field on Saturday, Oct. 13, starting at 7 p.m. Then Bowling Green will play at IPFW on Tuesday, Oct. 16 starting at 6 p.m. BG currently is 4-6-2 overall and 1-2-0 in Mid-American Conference play. The Falcons lost a league match at Hartwick Sept. 28 by a 2-0 score, then beat Western Michigan 2-1 on Oct. 5 before losing at Ohio State 2-0 on Oct. 10. Sophomore Danny Baraldi leads the team with five goals and 12 points, while he also is part of a group of five players with a pair of assists. Defensively, junior goalkeeper Michael Wiest began the week with a 1.21 goals-against mark.
WOMENS SOCCER: The Falcons will play a pair of MAC games at home this weekend, beginning with a contest against Buffalo on Friday, Oct. 12 starting at 7 p.m. Then on Sunday, Oct. 14 BG will face Akron at Cochrane Field for a 1 p.m. match. Bowling Green is 1-12-1 this season and 0-5-1 in league play and has lost four straight league matches after setbacks against Eastern Michigan Sept. 28, Western Michigan Sept. 30, Northern Illinois Oct. 5 and Toledo Oct. 7. Sophomore Sidney Huth leads the team in scoring with three goals and seven points, while freshman Demy Whitaker has a team-best two assists. Freshman Jenna Underwood has a 1.66 goals-against average.
SWIMMING: The Falcons will host the Tom Stubbs Relays on Friday, Oct. 12 at Cooper Pool, with Toledo, Akron and Youngstown State competing. This will be the first competition against other schools for BG, which hosted an intrasquad meet Oct. 5.
TENNIS: The next match for the Falcons will be the Rocket Invitational on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 12-13.
VOLLEYBALL: The Falcons will hit the road for a pair of Mid-American Conference matches as they play at Eastern Michigan on Friday, Oct. 12 starting at 7 p.m., then play at Central Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 13 beginning at 7 p.m. BG now is 11-7 overall and remains unbeaten in MAC play at 6-0 after winning at Akron and Buffalo, then claiming home wins over Miami and Western Michigan. BG has won seven straight after knocking off Oakland Tuesday. Individually, junior Paige Penrod has averaged 4.54 kills per set in her last 10 matches starting this week while junior Laura Avila has averaged 11.6 assists per set in her last 10 matches and has reached 50 assists four times in that span after recording 50 assists just once in her career prior to that.
