MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY: The men will run next at the All-Ohio Championships at Cedarville, Ohio, on Saturday, Sept. 29.
WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY: The next race for the Falcons will be at the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Cedarville University of Saturday, Sept. 29.
MEN'S GOLF: The Falcons’ next competition will be at the Firestone Intercollegiate in Akron on Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 8-9. On Sept. 24 BG finished second at the Cardinal Classic hosted by the University of Louisville. Bowling Green was led by senior Wes Gates, who won his second tournament in as many weeks with rounds of 70-67-72 for a 209 that claimed medalist honors by two strokes.
WOMEN'S GOLF: The next match for the Falcons will be at the Butler Invitational on Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 8-9. Earlier this week BG won the Cleveland State Invitational with a team score of 630, three shots better than the host school. Five Falcons finished in the Top 10, led by junior Bailey Arnold in third (153). She was followed by sophomore Patricia Holt in fifth (156), senior Amy Ruthenberg in sixth (157), while junior Kelsey Benson and freshman Lily Bartell tied for ninth (160).
MEN'S SOCCER: The Falcons will play a Mid-American Conference at Hartwick on Friday, Sept. 28, starting at 7 p.m. BG currently is 3-4-2 overall and 0-1-0 in Mid-American Conference play after splitting two matches last week. The Falcons lost to nationally ranked Akron on Sept. 22 by a 2-0, then claimed a 2-1 win in double-overtime over Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Sept. 25. Sophomore Danny Baraldi had three points against Milwaukee and leads the team with four goals and nine points, while freshman Ryan James, junior Anthony Grant and senior Chris McLean each have a pair of assists. Defensively, junior goalkeeper Michael Wiest has a 1.15 goals-against mark.
WOMENS SOCCER: The Falcons will play a pair of MAC games on the road this weekend, beginning with a contest at Eastern Michigan on Friday, Sept. 28 starting at 4 p.m. Then on Sunday, Sept. 30 BG will be at Western Michigan for a 1 p.m. match. Bowling Green is 1-8-1 this season and 0-1-1 in league play after suffering a 1-0 loss at Ohio on Sept. 21 before playing to an 0-0 double-overtime draw at Kent State Sept. 23. Sophomore Sidney Huth leads the team in scoring with a pair of goals good for four points, while juniors Tracy Togba and Madelin Wideman are next with a goal and an assist. Freshman Jenna Underwood has a 1.35 goals-against average.
TENNIS: The next match for the Falcons will be the Rocket Invitational on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 12-13. Bowling Green won four titles at the BGSU Invitational Sept. 21-22 as juniors Emily Reuland and Nikki Chiricosta won at first and second singles, respectively, while combining to win first doubles. Freshman Katie Brozovich and senior Mary Hill paired up to win at fourth doubles.
VOLLEYBALL: The Falcons will hit the road for a pair of Mid-American Conference matches as they play at Akron on Friday, Sept. 28 starting at 7 p.m., then play at Buffalo on Saturday, Sept. 29 beginning at 7 p.m. Last weekend BG opened MAC play with a pair of big victories, sweeping both Ohio and Kent State at home to improve to 6-7 on the season. Individually, junior Lindsey Butterfield was named MAC East Division offensive player of the week while senior Leah Shaw was the MAC East Division defensive player of the week.
