Wyatt Galley has decided to leave the Bowling Green hockey program, school officials confirmed Thursday.
The sophomore goalie missed last season after being diagnosed with a groin injury following the Falcons' season-opening exhibition game. The son of Garry Galley, a defenseman on BG's NCAA championship team in 1984 who also played in the NHL, Wyatt eventually had surgery but will still having problems with the injury early this summer.
Galley redshirted in his freshman season with the Falcons.
Bowling Green's returning goaltenders include senior Andrew Hammond, who started every game last season and finished with a 14-25-5 record, a 2.93 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage in 44 games.
The Falcons also return junior Scott Zacharias, who appeared in 70:11 spread over three games last season and stopped 12-of-15 shots.
Freshman Tommy Burke will join BG after playing for Bismarck in the North American Hockey League. Last season Burke had a 2.59 goal-against and a .910 save percentage in 43 games with the Bobcats.
