Ross is a right-hander from Baltimore who turned 23 years old on Sept. 6. Atlanta originally drafted Ross in the 18th round of the 2011 draft out of Division III Frostburg State University in Maryland.
Ross pitched this past season for Rome, Ga., in the Lo-A South Atlantic League. Primarily a starter, he posted a 7-9 record and a 4.60 ERA for the R-Braves, making 25 appearances and 21 starts. In 131 innings he had 106 strikeouts but also 40 walks.
He is not considered one of the top 30 prospects in the Atlanta organization by Baseball America.
