In an effort to have a little fun with the Coop Scoop blog, I am producing a (somewhat) daily trivia quiz called "Mud Hen Mindbender." No prize; this is just a way to get your day moving. Ready? Here we go ...
The Mud Hens were shut out by Syracuse 1-0 in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader. How many times have the Mud Hens been shut out this season? Here is a hint: The Hens have played 124 games and are next-to-last in the International League with a .246 team batting average?
The answer to Aug. 7 question? The Tigers added Jeff Baker to the roster in a trade with the Chicago Cubs. Baker originally was with Colorado before he was traded to Chicago. What player did the Cubs send to Colorado to get Baker? A name you may recognize: RHP Al Alburquerque.
Do you think you know the answer to today’s question? Click on the "comments" link below and give us your answer! I'll post the answer tomorrow along with another trivia question. Looking forward to hearing from you!

I've sat through plenty of games with two, three and sometimes four guys hitting under .200 in the lineup. I'd guess nine shutouts.

Matt: Actually, the answer is three times, including Wednesday ... amazing that you remember the first Syracuse game. It was in May -- one of the morning games, to be specific.
The other shutout came in a 7-0 loss to Rochester in a game at Fifth Third Field earlier this month that was shortened to seven innings by rain. If they would have played nine ...

By the way, my point is this: Toledo is WAY ahead of everyone else in the league in terms of fewest shutouts.
The next-smallest total is Columbus, which has been shut out four times, and Gwinnett is at five.
There are FIVE teams who have been shut out at least 10 times, including good teams like Lehigh Valley, Indianapolis and Norfolk.
