As the Mud Hens return to Fifth Third Field tonight to begin a four-game series with Durham, the roster continues to change.
Here is the latest round of moves the Mud Hens have made:
- ADD IF-OF DONNY KELLY: This was the move we've expected. Kelly passed through waivers and is expected to join the team starting tonight. Click here to read about Kelly's trip to Toledo.
- OF JAMIE JOHNSON WAS SENT TO DOUBLE-A ERIE: This move wasn't a surprise, either. Johnson was recently promoted from the SeaWolves and had hit .222 in 10 games with the Mud Hens. He did have three stolen bases in those 10 contests.
- ACTIVATE OF BEN GUEZ FROM THE DISABLED LIST: Guez had been on the Toledo DL since injuring his hamstring July 27. He began the season with Erie but has played in 58 games for the Mud Hens, batting .307 with five home runs and 26 RBIs along with six steals.
- RELEASED OF MATT YOUNG: I will admit that I'm a little bit surprised by this, because Young is a veteran who has experience in the majors as well as in Triple-A. The problem is that Young hasn't been hitting, batting just .212 in 96 games with the Mud Hens. He does have a .363 on-base percentage and 16 steals, but he has struggled at the plate in the last two months, batting .151 in 23 games in July and .080 in seven August contests.
