In an effort to have a little fun with the Coop Scoop blog, I am producing a (somewhat) daily trivia quiz called "Mud Hen Mindbender." No prize; this is just a way to get your day moving. Ready? Here we go ...
The Mud Hens were nearly no-hit on Thursday, eventually getting a ninth-inning double by Audy Ciriaco to avoid the whitewashing. Who was the last pitcher to throw a nine-inning no-hitter against the Hens?
The answer to the May 17 question? At the time, Mud Hens IF Justin Henry led the International League with a .347 batting average thanks to his hot hitting in May. Who was the last Mud Hen to lead the IL in batting average? Billy McMillon led the league with a .345 batting average in 2000..
Do you think you know the answer to today’s question? Click on the "comments" link below and give us your answer! I'll post the answer tomorrow along with another trivia question. Looking forward to hearing from you!

I know Mariano Rivera threw a no-hitter in Columbus at one point in time, so I'll guess him.

Rivera threw a five-inning no-hitter for Columbus in 1995, but that was against Rochester. The no-hitter against the Hens happened WAY earlier than that.
Hint: former major-league pitcher whose brother also pitched in the majors.
Yes, I know this one's a toughie. Good luck!

Mickey Mahler in 1976ish. If you listen to the Legend Jim Weber he talked all about it on the broadcast last night.

Interesting. I never heard of Mahler until I just looked him up. Based on the hint, I was thinking it would be one of the Niekros or Perrys.

John: I'll give it to you ... Richmond's Mickey Mahler no-hit the Hens on June 1, 1977.
And Phil ... that's exactly why I gave the hint that way. Pretty clever, ain't I?
