Phil

I'm going to hop in the time machine and go with one of my favorite players growing up, Shannon Penn.

John_Wagner

Phil: That's a GREAT answer, since Penn led the IL with 45 stolen bases in 1994.

However, there are THREE players who have led the league in stolen bases since Penn did it. For the moment, let's try to identify the most current.

BTW, you were "growing up" when Penn played for the Hens? Yeesh, I'm getting old ...

Pepper Leach

Freddy Guzman

John_Wagner

Atta baby, Pepper. Do you remember the total?

Phil

Yeah, we would finish our baseball games at the rec center fields, then walk over and watch the Hens game (or whatever innings remained). Penn was fun to watch.

Pepper Leach

Over 50?

John_Wagner

Yep. Over 50.

And while we're working on that ... Phil mentioned Shannon Penn, who led the IL in steals with 45 in 1994. There were TWO guys between Penn and Guzman.

Can you names those two players? Bonus if you name the year, and double bonus for the totals.

Larry from Maumee

Kimera Bartee and Nook Logan. Just think what might have happened if either of those guys could bunt!

Pepper Leach

Andres Torres

John_Wagner

Larry: One of yours is right, one is wrong.

Pepper: Andres Torres did lead the IL in stolen bases in 2002. He tied with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's Nick Punto with 42.

OK, let's wrap this one up. Which of Larry's two guesses is the right answer?

Pepper Leach

I'm pullin' for Exavier Prente Logan...

John_Wagner

Pull for him all you want, Pepper ... Kimera Bartee led the IL with 33 stolen bases in 1997.
