The Mud Hens' Brad Eldred was named International League batter of the week, the league office announced Monday.
Eldred hit .400 in seven games last week with four home runs, 15 RBI and 10 runs scored. He drove in at least one run in all seven games, pushing his current streak of games with a RBI to eight, and has at least one hit in all 17 games he has played this year.
For the season the 31-year-old Eldred is batting .368 and leads the IL with eight home runs, 25 RBIs and 17 runs scored. He also tops the league with 25 hits, 17 extra-base hits and an impressive .868 slugging percentage.
This is the third career IL Batter of the Week Award for Eldred, who also won it once in 2005 with Indianapolis and in 2008 with Charlotte.
The Mud Hens finish a three-game homestand with a contest against Columbus Monday starting at 6:30 p.m.
