The Mud Hens have made several roster moves during the past few days, including one before Wednesday night's contest at Louisville. Here they are ...
- Toledo added RHP Brayan Villarreal when he was sent down from Detroit. To make room for him on the roster, the Mud Hens sent LHP Ramon Garcia to Double-A Erie to make room for Villarreal.
- Toledo added SS Danny Worth when he was sent down from Detroit to make room for Brandon Inge. To make room for Worth on the roster, the Mud Hens sent IF Brent Dlugach to Double-A Erie.
- Toledo placed LHP Fu-Te Ni on the disabled list with left shoulder problems before Wednesday's game. Ni was injured in his start Tuesday against Louisville and is expected to miss at least one start (the IL disabled list is for seven days, not the 15 of the major-league list). While no corresponding move was announced, it wouldn't surprise me if Garcia turned around and headed back to Toledo. UPDATE: The Mud Hens announced Thursday morning that Garcia indeed would join the Hens.
Also, I asked Tigers officials today about RHP Jacob Turner. The Tigers' top prospect was sent to Hi-A Lakeland to begin the season. One of the favorites to begin the season as a starter for Detroit, Turner struggled with his command in early spring training games, then was shut down because of tendinitis in his right shoulder.
Tigers officials told me today that Turner is scheduled to start Monday for Lakeland when the Flying Tigers play at Daytona, with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
