I took a walk down Main Street Friday (see photos above and below) and had to stop and admire the Bradford pear trees that line the street. Their canopy is bursting with life, and are a great addition to downtown’s already quaint appearance.
The Bradford trees are beautiful, but their beauty is temporary because the delicate petals are sensitive to storms.
The trees will make a lovely backdrop as part of the setting for Thursday's Downtown Delights shopping event. Mayor Craig Stough said he was hoping the trees' blooms would hold until Thursday night when shop owners will be welcoming customers from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The trees will add to the flower theme, where each shop will choose and display its favorite flower. Shoppers will keep track of it for a prize.
I took a glance down the street Monday, and noticed that some of the trees' white blossoms have already blown away.
So hurry up and enjoy them before a heavy breeze carries the blossoms away.
