Now that we've had a few weeks to digest the whole memorabilia and tattoo mess at Ohio State, it seems pretty obvious that there was no crime, no victim, no guns, no theft, and no cheating on tests. The players are simply guilty of being stupid and disrespectful, and that's about it. They were stupid to think what they did would not eventually snare them in the NCAA's box trap, and disrespectful of their teammates and hundreds of former Buckeyes for selling such treasured items as Big Ten championship rings and gold pants on the cheap, like they were grandma's old gold dental work. When we saw Cam Newton's dad engage in flesh-peddling and demand six figures, and the punishment was zero, it hardly seems consistent for this group of wayard Buckeyes to miss five games of their senior season. Their real punishment comes when they face their teammates and those former Buckeyes.
