Bad ink for the Buckeyes

Tattoo-gate will cripple the Buckeyes for the start of the 2011 season, since it will apparently leave them without their starting quarterback, tailback, left tackle and leading returning wide receiver. The immediate question is how much it will impact them for the Sugar Bowl. Tough to imagine guys like Bryant Browning and Justin Boren getting in the huddle and not resenting the actions of these others. Not many folks are buying the OSU party line that these guys sold their rings to raise money for their families. At the very least, they displayed incredibly poor judgement. Don't be surprised if all four of the starters bail out and go to the NFL, when the right thing to do is stand up like a man, admit your mistake, take your punishment, and then work to restore your name. Hard to believe any Ohio State fans will ever forgive them for selling those gold pants.  

Meyer in the Buckeyes' future?

Florida coach Urban Meyer resigned recently, and will step away from coaching following the Gators' bowl game. Meyer is an Ohio native who coached two years as an assistant at Ohio State before moving on a path that ultimately took him to Notre Dame, and then to his first head coaching job at Bowling Green. After two strong years at BG, and two more at Utah, Florida hired Meyer and he won two national championships in Gainesville. Meyer said he needs to spend more time as a father and as a husband, and no doubt he will do that. He will have two daughters playing college volleyball next season, and his son will start junior high football. Consider this, however: in 2014 Ohio State coach Jim Tressel will be 62 and his contract with the Buckeyes will be completed. Meyer will be only 50 at that point. If he's ready to get back in coaching, and back home to Ohio, all the dots could be connected in Columbus.

Pryor gets Big Ten honor -- for academics

Terrelle Pryor might have been overlooked as a quarterback on the all-Big Ten teams, but he was one of 22 Buckeyes to make the Big Ten's Academic All-Conference team. He is a criminology major.
