Those sounds you hear coming from Ravine Park pool are jackhammers rather than cannonballs.
Joe McNamara, a city councilman and Democratic candidate for mayor, joined residents of East Toledo's Ravine Park area in complaining that the pool is being demolished today with no warning or consultation with council or the neighborhood.
(Here's the story.)McNamara used the destruction of the pool as another example of what he claims is an administration that's out-of-touch with neighborhoods.
Councilman Mike Craig said the first he heard was on Facebook Tuesday night.
Bell administration spokesman Jen Sorgenfrei said Ravine Park was one of four pools (with Highland Park, Ashley, and Collins Park) that were too damaged to be repaired. She said this was communicated to council over a year ago.
She said the administration has no immediate plans for recreation at Ravine - just nuisance abatement. Here's a picture from the news conference.
