Was our headline on Saturday about Mitt Romney's "birther" quip unfair to Romney?
This reader thought so, and she let us know what she thought:
I disagree with your headline "Romney dredges up
'birther' controversy". It is you, the media, who dredges up
controversy. You pick any sentence a person says & blow it up out of
all context or meaning the person meant. I don't know how anyone can say
anything that the media doesn't pounce on it to make it seem
controversial. Evidently controversy and disaster is news but good things
are not! "News" articles on the front page in large type should not be the
opinion of the reporter. A reporter should only report the facts and not
add his own interpretation.
Very angry,
Carol Leonard
I told her I didn't care for the headline either but it didn't change the fact that Romney brought up the birther issue.
This was a good example of what USA Today in its story in the weekend edition called Romney's "puckish" sense of humor.
