Steve Kraus, the Huron auctioneer, who nearly handed a defeat to better-known Samuel "Joe the Plumber" Wurzelbacher in the 9th District Congressional District Republican primary, on Thursday released a letter thanking his family and volunteers.
Here it is in its entirety:
First, I'd like to thank my wife, my family, my friends, my supporters, and my great bunch of volunteers. Without them, this incredible journey would not have been possible.
I'd also like to give thanks to God, and my Lord Jesus Christ.
As to the race:
The results are not shocking to me. My neighbors and I all care about the same things.
I ran the race laid out before me, without any establishment endorsements, or national celebrity name recognition. All the while, I was out spent by a 6 to 1 margin, and still the race is too close to call. That is in incredible statement of accomplishment that I am extremely proud of, and a reflection of the of the values the voters feel is important.
This confirms my belief and faith in America. The outcome of this vote reflects the direction that my neighbors and I feel the country needs to go. We want a better county for ourselves, our families, and our future.
I believe every vote counts, and every vote needs to be counted.
I want what is best for this country, and I don't think we can afford two more years of Marcy Kaptur or four more years of President Obama. We need conservatives with solutions, and to that end, I will be championing the call for prosperity throughout north coast Ohio with my energy independence and job platform.
